Scarcely more than three years old, the W&H Properties brand already has garnered four major awards from the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), the 100-year-old international commercial real estate organization.
In February, three W&H buildings were named winners of the BOMA/NY Pinnacle Awards. For one of those properties, 501 Seventh Avenue, it was the second such honor in successive years. In 2006, 501 Seventh Avenue was singled out as the Best Renovated Building. This year, it won the distinction of Best Operating Office Building in the 100,000 to 499,999 square foot category.
Meanwhile, 1359 Broadway has succeeded 501 Seventh Avenue, winning the honor of Best Renovated Building this year, and The Lincoln Building has earned the Historical Building Award.
"Although 'We Perform for You' has been our core message to the brokerage and tenant communities, underpinning that message is our commitment to our investors," says Anthony E. Malkin, President of Wien & Malkin and the architect of the W&H Properties rejuvenation and re-branding strategy.
Generating Additional Value
"We're especially proud of the recognition conferred on our buildings by BOMA because it reaffirms a tradition of astute, prudent and proactive investment management started by my grandfather, Lawrence A. Wien, more than 70 years ago," Mr. Malkin adds. "As we continue to generate additional value from the W&H portfolio's original properties, we are pushing forward with plans to achieve similar success with the buildings recently added to the portfolio."
The reference is to 1333 Broadway, 1350 Broadway, 1400 Broadway, 112 West 34th Street, and the Empire State Building, which joined the W&H brand this past winter, and where an aggregate $750 million capital improvement and repositioning program is already underway.
