FALL 2007   VOL. IX   NO. 4

1359 ceiling detail

Honored earlier this year as the Best Renovated Building by the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), 1359 Broadway has earned another distinction: The Fashion Center, a business improvement district encompassing the area historically associated with Manhattan's apparel industry, has given the building its annual Property Improvement Award in the lobby renovation category.

While renovating 1359 Broadway, W&H discovered the lobby's original classic 1920s-style, decorative vaulted ceiling had been hidden by a plain dropped ceiling in the 1970s. W&H then duplicated the original ceiling with new materials, helping to create one of Manhattan's most distinctive lobbies.

Also this year, W&H's 501 Seventh Avenue received BOMA's Best Operating Building award (after being named Best Renovated Building in 2006), and The Lincoln Building won BOMA's Best Historical Building award.
